The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) is proud to announce that Professor and Chair Robert M. Briber is one of the University of Maryland's six 2012-2013 Distinguished Scholar-Teachers. The program honors faculty members who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their fields and the classroom, and who represent what a professor at a world-class university should be.
Each fall, the newest Distinguished Scholar-Teachers share their passionfor learning with the campus and the public in a series of lectures sponsored by the the offices of the Senior Vice President and Provost. We hope you'll be able to join us for Professor Briber's lecture!

This lecture will discuss the science behind the unusual properties of polymers, from commercial plastics to biomolecules. It is designed to be entertaining to a general audience of non-scientists and will incorporate demonstrations.
