2016 Gilbert W. Beebe Symposium

The April 26, 1986, Chernobyl nuclear reactor accident released more radiation to the environment than any other accident in the history of commercial nuclear power. It is also the only accident to date with acute radiation-related fatalities.

The National Academies’ Nuclear and Radiation Studies Board invites you to join its annual Gilbert W. Beebe symposium on November 1-2, 2016 in Washington, D.C. to commemorate the 30th year anniversary of the Chernobyl accident.

Speakers will discuss what has been learned from studying the radiation health effects following the accident and future research directions. There will also be a discussion of community resilience.

There is no registration fee.  Please register to attend in person at 2101 Constitution Avenue in Washington, DC or to view the webcast. View the agenda here
