The MSGS society awarded Dr. John Cumings the Most Outstanding Professor and Dr. Lourdes Salamanca-Riba the Most Outstanding Advisor. The winners were chosen by online vote of undergraduate and graduate Materials Science and Engineering students over a two week period. This is the first year the awards have been handed out. Plaques were presented at the MSGS 2007 Spring BBQ. For pictures from the Cookout please check the photo gallery.

The society now has a photo gallery online! If you have pictures from MSGS events and would like to share them please let the webmaster know.

Thanks for all those who participated in MSGS's burrito night at California Tortilla. And many thanks to California Tortilla for facilitating our fundraiser. Our share of California Tortilla's profits amounted to over $90!!! Great job and we should do this again sometime!

The MSGS student lounge, Chem/Nuc building room 2126, has been secured, cleaned, and furnished. There are a couple couches, a desk, and a full size refridgerator. Please be considerate and pick up after yourself. Snacks will be stocked and sold on the honor system as long as the honor system is upheld. On Friday, Oct 13, 2006 we will have an opening gathering in the lounge from 2:00pm to 3:30pm complete with refreshments and snacks. All MSGS members are welcome.

It's a new semester which means member dues are due again. Please bring your $5 to the next meeting or contact the treasurer if you have not already paid.
