When the Washington Post published a story on the University of Maryland's men's rugby club, Department of Materials Science and Engineering undergraduate and forward wing Matt Reilly was a featured player, discussing how he become involved with the Terps, his hopes for the team, and the future of the sport's popularity in the U.S.

The Terps rugby club recently received national television exposure when it participated in the 2012 USA Sevens Collegiate Rugby Championship, which was broadcast by NBC. Rugby "sevens"—a faster version of the game played with only seven players on a side—will be an Olympic sport starting in 2016, and the network has already started to promote it.

You can read the story by Dave Sheinin, "For Maryland rugby team, NBC-televised tourney may be start of something big," and see photos of Reilly and the team online, on the Washington Post web site.
